Sacral Chakra Yoga

Check out my favorite yoga poses for the Sacral ChakraYoga is closely associated with the well-being of the human mind and body; it relaxes the mind, stimulates your body’s essential biological systems, and rejuvenates your senses. It is one of the main driving forces behind our body chakras’ proper function, including the sacral chakra.

What is the Sacral Chakra?

The second chakra of the human body is the Sacral Chakra or Svadhisthana. It is the power behind how we relate to people outside our family tribe, discover our own power of choice, and the creative exploration of relationships, sexuality, and life. The element for the Sacral Chakra is water. Therefore, flexibility and flow are the two most prominent characteristics of the chakra. The sacral chakra is situated three inches beneath the navel, near the center of our lower belly. It is associated with the lymphatic system.

Yoga and The Sacral Chakra

Situated beneath the navel, specifically in the lower abdomen, the chakra relates to our connection toward other people and the creative sense. An imbalance in the sacral chakra can lead to emotional instability, lack of motivation and energy, dependency, and low self-esteem. The imbalance can manifest itself physically into lower back pain, an irregular menstrual cycle, and urinary infections. The relationships we keep are essential when it comes to finding balance within the sacral chakra.

Yoga helps us activate the energy of the Sacral Chakra through hip movements. Yoga preaches that the concept of real pleasure lies within us, and the supply is unlimited. A good way to access this pleasure is through meditation or even during savasana. Now, let us take a look at a few yoga postures that will help you enhance your sacral chakra.

Remember, setting up a regular yoga session is a great supplement that helps you live a healthy lifestyle and promotes overall wellbeing, especially the chakra system of the body. Yoga postures and asanas can disperse the blockages to boost the energy flow through the body’s energy centers. When you focus on improving any one of the chakras, the complete chakra system’s health starts benefitting.

Yoga Chakra Journey

Yoga Postures to Enhance the Sacral Chakra

When practicing yoga to balance the sacral chakra, we need to focus on poses that instill flow, joy, and creativity.

Bound Angle Pose (Baddha Konasana)

Butterfly Pose for the Sacral ChakraThe bound angle pose stimulates the prostate gland, ovaries, abdominals, kidneys, and the bladder. This pose stimulates your heart rate and enhances general circulation. Groins, knees, and inner thighs benefit from this pose, and it’s therapeutic for higher blood pressure, asthma, infertility, and flat feet. Apart from this, Bound Angle is known to relieve anxiety, fatigue, and milder bouts of depression. Similarly, Bound Angle pose works wonders for women who suffer from menstrual discomfort.

Squat Pose (Malasana)

Yogi Squat for the Sacral ChakraMalasana opens up your groins and hips while stretching your neck, back, lower hamstrings, and ankles. It strengthens your metabolism and improves digestion. Practicing this pose tones the abdominals and keeps your hip muscles and pelvic joints healthy. If you are looking for some good prenatal yoga, a squat pose is a perfect option.

Goddess Pose (Utkata Konasana)

Goddess Pose for the Sacral ChakraGoddess pose stretches your hips, groin, and chest. It tones and strengthens the core muscles, the quadriceps, and inner thigh muscles. It also creates heat in the body by increasing circulation. This pose is named after Hindu goddess Kali, who is often depicted in a victorious squatting posture. Kali symbolizes power and strength and feminine energy.

Triangle Pose (Utthita Trikonasana)

Triangle Pose for the Sacral ChakraTriangle Pose lengthens the spine and stretches the torso. It also strengthens the legs and core and opens the hips and shoulders. It can improve digestion and reduce stress.

Pigeon Pose (Ardha Kapotasana)

Pigeon Pose for the Sacral ChakraPigeon increases the external range of motion of the femur in the hip socket. It lengthens hip flexors and prepares the body for backbends. It’s a great stretch for the whole lower body and stimulates the nervous and endocrine system.

In conclusion, the ultimate teaching that you receive from yoga is all that you need is present within you. The elements held inside your body’s cells are the same as flowing water in a stream. We all need to channelize these elements to ensure that our chakras’ balance is maintained. This is why yoga helps in manifesting energy and promoting overall wellness.
