If your day begins with you hitting the snooze button multiple times and spending a considerable amount of time scrolling through your phone, maybe it is time to do something different. Waking up to your phone might seem convenient, but it is extremely toxic for your mental as well as physical well-being. So, what should you do instead?
Replace your snooze-sleep-scroll routine with something beneficial, like a relaxing morning yoga regimen. It will keep you energized through the day and help you handle stress with utmost grace.
If you develop the habit of practicing morning yoga, it will keep you energized and help you fight fatigue effectively. Here are a few benefits of practicing yoga in the morning that will inspire you to have a wonderful day, every day.
Makes you flexible
Regularly practicing morning yoga will help you maintain good posture throughout the day. It helps prevent back, neck, and shoulder pain effectively and enables you to be energetic and vibrant all throughout the day. Gain mobility and be flexible by waking up to a yoga regimen every morning.
Improved sleep cycle
Research has proved that yoga helps people sleep better and deeper. So, say no to late nights and insomnia. A morning yoga regimen can help balance your hormones and maintain the natural rhythm of sleep. It helps improve the quality of your sleep and makes you feel revitalized. Morning yoga is a powerful way to be in control of your sleeping habits.
If you are working toward maintaining your body and losing weight, starting your day with yoga might be beneficial. Certain studies show that if you practice yoga before having breakfast it boosts your body’s metabolism and helps burn maximum calories.
Removes fatigue and energizes you
Morning yoga, if practiced with dedication for an extended period of time, can keep you energized and help you fight fatigue. Yoga acts as a natural antidepressant, which helps produce high levels of stress-relieving amino acid also known as GABA. It is when the level of GABA increases that you can handle stress and anxiety better. Morning yoga calms you down, makes you happy, and fills you with positivity.
Releases tension and tones your muscles
Making yoga a part of your everyday morning regimen will help you gain more strength and peace and tone your muscles. But this can only be achieved through consistency and commitment. It helps lower your stress levels considerably and enables you to develop a jovial approach to get through the day and solve your problems with ease. This will help you to recreate and nourish yourself, and also promote self-growth. Yoga, when done routinely and faithfully helps release tension – physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
You can start practicing yoga at home as you don’t need much equipment to begin and it will be beneficial for you on both a physical and mental level. Here’s what you can do:
Select a space
Firstly, determine which area of your house will serve as the best space for you to practice yoga regularly. Clear out the space and make sure it is not cluttered. Consider moving the furniture around to make room for yourself and your yoga mat. Make sure that there’s some space so that you don’t feel claustrophobic or get hurt.
Keep the essentials handy
Keep a bottle full of water by your side before you start practicing. Think about getting hybrid cloths that can act as pajamas and yoga cloth so you can get on your mat without changing. Also keep your meditation cushion or pillow, yoga blocks or straps, and yoga mat ready.
It might be confusing for a beginner to choose from the buffet of online resources available on yoga. To avoid being overwhelmed by the number of options, here’s what you can do:
- As a beginner, don’t be restless. Don’t expect to achieve results instantaneously. As you give yourself more time, you’ll get better at it. Be patient.
- Do your research well. Strain out the poses that you think you can do.
- Consult a yoga specialist online or a trainer offline, whichever suits you best to cross-check the poses that you have chosen. They will tell you what you should begin with and eventually proceed to.
- Don’t be hasty. Avoid pressuring yourself. This is something you’re doing to be less stressed, not more.
- Avoid treating the time that you dedicate to morning yoga as a burden.

You can try meditating to increase your focus and keep your mind calm. A meditation cushion or a pillow can help you be both comfortable and attentive. It will prepare you for the hustle and bustle of the day.
You can begin with Sun Salutations. It is a time-efficient way of practicing yoga as it threads together different poses. Sun-salutes are most commonly used to warm up and are followed by poses that require standing. The routine often ends with yoga poses which require bending, twisting, and backbends. Set realistic goals
Don’t be harsh on yourself. Yoga is about relaxing your senses and calming you down. Decide the amount of time you are going to dedicate to yoga each morning. You have to be true to your daily regimen and follow it as often as possible if you want to see a positive change in your physical and mental state. Consider reasonable goals on a daily basis and attempt to achieve them. You can set weekly or bi-weekly goals as well and maintain a diary to keep track of it.
Treat yourself for putting in so much effort on yourself every morning. You deserve nothing less than the best. Every time you succeed to reach a goal appreciate yourself and treat yourself to something you love, I strongly recommend to treat yourself with some self-care.
